Protector started building all-condition high performance RIBS for the New Zealand Coast Guard in the mid-1990s and quickly gained moved into the recreational market where they've gained a reputations as go any where, go any time vessels. The secret is in the hull design: they have very deep V-hulls that slice through the water, with the tubes taking the beating; Protectors are essentially designed around the TUBES, whereas with most RIBS the hull comes first and the tubes are just attached after the fact.
Anyway, not surprisingly Protectors are very popular here on the Bay with our typical rough, cold waters and this particular boat is hull #75. She's a very nice example still owned by the original buyer, and note she has the optional full glass windshield (this was a $6,000+ option from the factory), twin 200 hp four stroke Yamaha F200XBs new in 2020 (this was an almost $45,000 project), new tubes and electronics including GPS/radar in 2018 (almost $50,000 more), other records going back to 2003.
Also note she's lying in a potentially transferable downtown Sausalito Yacht Harbor slip; there's usually a wait to get into the harbor here so this is a material benefit if you're able to take advantage.
